“If you ask my husband, he will proudly tell you that I am a successful clothing businesswoman and a digital marketer. He trusts me completely. And why shouldn\u2019t he? Every single month, I show him the profits, and I easily pitch in to pay the house rent and buy groceries. He boasts to everyone that he married a brilliant, sharp business woman.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the truth is, that clothing business died a long time ago. It went under during the pandemic, and the storefront has been completely empty.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“My biggest secret started last year. My husband came home beaming after receiving a KSh 500,000 corporate bonus from his job. He handed the cash to me with so much hope in his eyes and said, ‘My wife, hide this money safely in your secret account. By June next year, this is the money we will use to buy that plot of land we\u2019ve always wanted in Kitengela.’<\/em> I took the cash and deposited it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She hesitated, the guilt evident in her tone. “But instead of leaving it alone, greed got the better of me. A close friend of mine showed me how people were making fast money online through Forex trading. I jumped in head-first, completely blind to the risks.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has no idea that his cash traveled to a Forex broker, stood on the edge of a cliff where it almost vanished forever, and was pulled back by a thread.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
